The benefits of SSA membership can be divided into several key strands. You can find out more detail on each of these on their dedicated pages of our website.

Advocacy

As an SSA Member, you help to set our priorities, which in turn outline key advocacy objectives. By sharing your challenges, experiences and case studies from your sport, you contribute to our collective positioning on important issues, helping to leverage the collective impact of sports speaking together at the same time as sharing the specifics of your own sport. Together, we and our Members showcase Scottish sport as collaborative, efficient and committed to making positive contributions to Scottish society. This work positions us and all of our Members positively with MSPs and across Government, helps them understand issues and ensure they are willing to meet with us and discuss key topics. By operating together, we are more impactful and can achieve our shared ambitions of ongoing and future support from across the policy landscape.

You also gain representation through the SSA, as an independent membership body, on a wide range of cross-Governmental groups and forums.

Member services

As well as being part of the collective influencing power of the SSA, as a Member you also gain direct immediate benefits for your organisation. Members of the Scottish Sports Association have access to a range of networks and forums, including for dedicated areas of work, such as operational management, and key roles, including chairs and presidents.

We have also responded to Member needs by building upon the new events and services we have introduced in recent years, with a range of opportunities to share ideas, make new connections and access new opportunities.

We continue to deliver ongoing strands of work related to recruitment, leadership and governance. Please make sure to make use of the additional services Members enjoy, including a free promotion service for jobs, volunteer and board opportunities to help reach a wider and more diverse talent pool and find applicants from the wider networks that we engage with. Please share vacancy details with us so we can promote them.

Further information on the specific services available to Members can be found on the dedicated pages of our website. Please contact admin@thessa.org.uk if you have any questions at all.
