REPRESENTING

We are entrusted to represent our members’ views at various forums, aiming to ensure that the interests of Governing Bodies are always championed.

Groups & Forums

Continued to represent the interests of our members on 25 national groups or forums, a full list of which be found here

UK Sport Engagement

We continued to support our members by delivering a unique opportunity for them to hear directly from UK Sport's CEO Liz Nicholl and ask questions around the delivery of performance sport in the UK. Our members were invited to an informal networking lunch before hearing Liz discuss the model used to allocate funding to Olympic and Paralympic sports, whilst also reviewing Team GB's performance at the 2016 Rio Games and what they are doing looking forward to Tokyo in 2020. The session allowed our members to really understand how UK Sport works with the home nations to produce world class athletes and how exactly funding decisions are made to help deliver their successes.

Consultations

Engaged with 17 consultations on a wide range of topics including gender representation on boards, community empowerment,  the future of forestry, the Big Lottery Fund, and facility planning to name a few.

We actively responded on behalf of our members to 6 consultations, full details of which can be found here:

UK Honours

We continued to work closely with the Scottish Government in supporting the UK Honours Awards nominations process and have been recognised for our work in this area by being given greater responsibility in supporting this process. Our partnership with the Scottish Government has consistently identified an increased number, breadth and quality of nominations from grassroots sport in Scotland towards the Honours process. Due to this success, in 2017, the Scottish Government asked the SSA to further support this process to build on the strong work and progress to date. More details can be found on our dedicated Honours page here.
