Closing date: Tuesday, 24th November 2020

The Opportunity:

The successful candidate would be getting involved at an exciting and pivotal time for cross-country skiing in Scotland. Nordic is a small but highly active skiing community, with skiers from entry level to elite. We are pursuing an ambitious strategy, supported by sportscotland and GB Snowsport: growing participation by establishing cross country skiing throughout Scotland and supporting the performance pathway by providing more focused coaching and support to promising individuals.

Time Commitment:

Committee meetings are currently quarterly and last about 2 hours on a weekday evening. There is pre-reading for meetings and committee members are also asked to complete tasks between meetings.

Expenses/Remuneration:

Meetings are conducted online via Teams or Zoom so expenses are not currently provided.

Accountability:

SSS Committees were established to provide engagement between the SSS Board and the various discipline communities.

Main Duties:

As a member of the Nordic Committee, you will be considering and making recommendations to the Board on:

  • Squad selection, preparation and management;
  • Participation programmes;
  • Performance development programmes;

  • Communication.

The Nordic Committee is chaired by the SSS Nordic Director, includes SSS pathway and performance coaches, along with seven representatives of the Nordic community. There are now vacancies as some members have completed their terms of office.

Terms and Conditions:

Successful candidates will be appointed to this voluntary position initially for a three-year term, with a maximum of two consecutive terms.
