Mountaineering Scotland - 3x Directors

Mountaineering Scotland is a membership organisation with over 14,000 members including 163 clubs and is the only recognised representative organisation for hill walkers, climbers, mountaineers and ski-tourers who live in Scotland or who enjoy Scotland’s mountains, and acts to represent, support and promote Scottish mountaineering.

We are seeking new directors to join our board at this exciting time to be involved in shaping the future of the organisation as we look to develop a new strategic plan to take the organisation forward from 2021.

The Director for Finance /Treasurer is responsible for the strategic oversight of financial matters relating to the company, and for additional responsibilities relating to trusts associated with Mountaineering Scotland. This is a great opportunity for someone with appropriate experience in financial matters, combined with a passion for mountaineering or outdoor activities.

The Director for Landscape and Planning leads on our work to safeguard Scotland’s mountains from adverse development and promoting a positive vision of a high quality future for mountain areas. The work includes monitoring and responding to policy developments, and responding to planning proposals in accordance with criteria approved by the Board.

This is a great opportunity for someone who may have some experience of the planning process and/ or is interested in the value of Scotland's mountain landscapes, combined with a personal passion for mountaineering or outdoor activities.

The Director for Governance, HR and Equalities will provide advice and support to the board on the governance of the organisation. The work includes supporting the review and updating of relevant policies and procedures, providing support and advice on staffing issues and championing diversity and inclusion to help broaden our existing membership.

This is a great opportunity for someone with appropriate experience in equalities, legal and / or the management of human resources, combined with a passion for mountaineering or outdoor activities.
